The popularity of free person searchsites on the Internet has really taken off these past few years.  The search engine Google, claims that people search related search terms are some of the most popular searched queries on the net.People search sites have become very popular in the search engines. Unfortunately they don’t provide you with the services that they advertise.

Most of the advertising that these services provide are false.  These sites will allow you to conduct your people search but then demand a payment to provide you with results.  While their are a few sites that do allow you to conduct free people searches, the majority of these services are not free.The complete frustration that I experienced while trying to find a free people search site has lead me to develop free methods of my own.

The Internet has given the genealogist, a significant tool that past investigators did not have.  I have found that using the web is the best way to find lost friends and family members.  Addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses are just a sample of the huge amount of information that is available on the net.

The main tool in a investigators arsenal is your local government records site.  These sites are usually maintained by your local or state courthouse.  These services are generally free and allow you to conduct extensive searches with just the name of your search subject.  These sites contain civil, criminal, divorce and marriage records.  These records are usually all you need to track down your subject.

Social networking websites is a great alternative to paid people search sites.  Sites such as Myspace and Facebook are great for gleaming personal information.  These services allow their members to create extensive personal profiles that contain everything from e-mail addresses to places of employment. 

These two Internet tools have allowed me to conduct very successful free people search investigations.  Not only are they powerful and easy to use but they are absolutely free to boot.
